Welcome to the Bubble Column Reactor Database of the LSS

On this site you can find measurement results of mass transfer and fluiddynamical behaviour in different bubble column reactors.

In the reactor the mass transfer from gases into liquids was investigated with Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) (Single Tracer Laser Induced Fluorescence or Two Tracer Laser Induced Fluorescence (2T-LIF)). For a better understanding of the transport mechanisms, conditioning the reaction, a complete characterization of the flow within the bubble column is necessary. For the gas/bubble phase the Shadow Imaging technique combined with Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV) was used in order to recognize the bubbles and identify the bubble characteristics. For the liquid phase Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) was used to examine the surrounding hydrodynamics.
